Instrumentation > Dimensional Analysis

A non-contact method for the rapid measurement of cross sectional area of small fibres. The design incorporates the facility to rotate samples and to transport then laterally to measure a series of "slices" along the fibre.

The system uses the Mitutoyo laser micrometer for the
accurate measurement of dimensions. Instrument control and data collection is from the Dia-Stron PC applications software and with a few key strokes the dimensional data can be applied to normalise tensile data for more accurate determination of fibre properties. (See importance of dimensional measurements in tensile testing)

Quick and easy scanning procedure.
Accurate measurement to less than 0.1µ
Fully compatible with Dia-Stron tensile testers and automated sample loading systems.

Dia-Stron offers the FDAS in 2 module options.

Diastron - FDAS 765   Diastron - FDAS 760

FDAS 765 for operation either as stand-alone or in a multi-modular automated system. Including automated sample hold down, fibre straightening and measurement at user selectable rotation angles.   FDAS 760 specially designed module incorporating an enclosed tank for measurement of fibres immersed in liquids. This allows the measurement of changes in fibres due to chemical treatments. The module is constructed in chemical resistant materials.
