Cyclic Tester (CYC800)
Failure analysis is an essential tool in the evaluation of survival characteristics of many materials and components. This technique is applicable to fibres through the use of the Dia-Stron Cyclic Tester.
Cyclic mechanical testing applies repeated non-destructive stresses to the material until failure occurs. Samples with flaws tend to fail at lower cycles and the method is used to predict premature failure in the materials.

Unique information on the degree of damage due to manufacturing processes or chemical and environmental factors.
Flexibility through user selectable protocols for constant load or strain, cycle rates
Improved productivity and quality of data using the Dia-Stron automated sample loading module ALS1500.
Automated data processing including Weibull failure analysis.

The graph shows the survival characteristics of human hair. Comparison of fibres obtained from the root   end and the tip demonstrate a large reduction in survival probability of the tip, indicating damage to the hair.
