As part of the continued drive to improve customer service and support, we are seeking a Service and Test Engineer to join our Team. The Service and Test Engineer is expected to install and support equipment in-the-field, and there will be a requirement for international travel. In-addition to providing service and support for Dia-Stron’s new and existing customers you will be expected to support Dia-Stron’s Production Team during the final tests and qualification of instrumentation.

Job Description

The Role


You will:

  • Provide installation, service and sales support at customers’ sites around the world
  • Support existing customers including on-line technical support and on-site visits
  • Manage the service and support inbox and ‘triage’ issues as they come in, and create cases within the CRM system.
  • Liaise with the Marketing and Sales Teams to schedule installation and service visits
  • Provide training materials as required for internal and external use. This may include written manuals, video and PowerPoint guides for distributors or customers.
  • Create and maintain documentation to a high standard.
  • Support Technical/NPD and Production Teams in the development, testing and qualification of Instrumentation
  • Support the marketing, sales, and production teams on technical and service matters.


The key requirements for the successful candidate are:


Education & Experience

  • Educated) in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Robotics, Physics or similar disciplines.
  • 1 years experience in a service role (on-site or field).


Essential Competencies:

  • Understanding of the basic operations of complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Understand the basic operations of mechanical test equipment
  • High level of IT/Computer literacy. Ability to install software, drivers, firmware, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and fix electro-mechanical systems


Desirable Competencies:

  • Experience of complex systems incorporating stepper and/or DC motors, encoders, etc.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and an understanding of GD&T to international standards.
  • Understanding of PCB production data (schematics, BoMs and Gerber files, etc.)
  • Experience in other engineering disciplines will be an advantage.
  • Experience of Help Desk or CRM systems for tracking service and support issues


Person specification:

  • Highly motivated and capable of independent working.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, customers and external contractors.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly with overnight stays (c. 2 days a week every week with occasional full weeks)
